Walk for Wildlife Sunday 19th September 10am.

Join in the ‘Walk for Wildlife’ an initiative by Frankston Council.

To mark the International Year of Biodiversity, Frankston City Council is holding the “Walk for Wildlife” event to engage our local community to actively appreciate the biodiversity still existing in our local area. We aim to educate and empower people of all ages to take an active role in helping conserve our precious fauna and flora and to recognize the importance of our local biodiversity.

On the morning of Sunday September 19th between 10 am and 12 noon a series of concurrent community walks will explore our woodland, wetland, and coastal natural reserves. These walks will be led by local Friends groups, with support of the Rangers. The aim of the walks is to highlight the natural reserves and green corridors in our local area and to foster a community sense of stewardship and appreciation of these natural areas and their role in providing habitat for fauna and flora.

Walkers are invited to walk or travel by other means to the George Pentland Botanic Gardens in Frankston at midday, where people can stay on for lunch and an afternoon of educational environmental activities for the whole family. These activities will run from 12.00 – 4.00pm.

A large marquee and trestle tables will be available for environmental stalls and activities. Food and drinks will be available.
